Outputmessage

Outputmessage may already be known to you thanks to his previous work on the Ghostly label. The tracks “Bernard’s Song” and “Sommeil” formed arguably the brightest moments on the Idol Tryouts 1 & 2 compilations respecitively. And his remix of Dabrye’s “Hyped-Up Plus Tax” (2003) has become semi-legendary via turntables this and that side of the Atlantic.

Born in Queens, New York, in 1983, spending his formative middle-school years in New Jersey, and finally ending up in Richmond, VA, Bernard Farley (aka Outputmessage) can be given that rare title of “young musical prodigy.” During his time in New Jersey, he first became fascinated with a broad range of music, eventually keying in on electronic; and when his family got its first computer in the summer of 1998, he began making music on his own. Now living in Washington DC, he’s involved in a myriad of projects.

He has two DJ nights called MARQUIS (myspace.com/marquisdc) and FLAT OUT, an electronic pop/rock band called New Models, and an outfit called Dmerit with flatmate and fellow MARQUIS DJ Micah Vellian (Stamen and Pistils, Person, Metropolitan).
